Pleidelsheim was first mentioned in the Lorsch Codex in 794 as Blidolvesheim on the occasion of a donation to the Lorsch Monastery.[8] The place changed hands several times: in 972 to the Bishopric of Speyer, at the beginning of the 12th century to the Hirsau Monastery, in 1245 to the Backnang Monastery and finally in 1455 to Württemberg. In the 12th century the place was part of the Hohenstaufen sphere of influence.
