This bunker was built after World War I and was part of the border post designed to stop an invasion from Germany.
It is a so-called bank bunker with horizontal loopholes for a machine gun in each side wall. They were aligned to the opposite bank of the canal and to the water.
Already on May 10, 1940, German troops defeated the Belgian troops at the border canals. Most of the bunkers were not attacked and have therefore survived undamaged.
