A trade route from Schönsee to Hostau had passed through the Schwarzach border crossing since the Middle Ages. Before the Second World War there was brisk border traffic here. After 1945 it was closed and the iron curtain was in place until 1990. From the opening of the border in 1991, the crossing was partially open to pedestrians and cyclists.
Nowadays you can even pass it by car. Via the bike path 2141 that starts here you can also reach the 36er.
The Bavarian Bohemian Friendship Cycle Path from Nabburg to Bischofteinitz also leads over this historic transition.
