The Schwerte radio tower, often referred to as the Schwerte TV tower, is a striking structure in the Schwerte Forest, east of the Dortmund district of Sommerberg. It was built between 1977 and 1978 and reaches a height of 158 meters. The tower is made of reinforced concrete and is of type FMT 13, a standardized construction method for radio towers.

The tower is primarily used to transmit VHF radio programs and radio relays. The radio programs broadcast include WDR 2 on 87.8 MHz with a transmission power of 2 kW, Antenne Unna on 102.3 MHz with 1 kW and Deutschlandfunk on 104.4 MHz with 0.2 kW.

Although the radio tower is not open to the public, it is a landmark that can be seen from afar and serves as a landmark for hikers and cyclists. The surrounding forest areas, especially the Schwerter Wald, offer numerous hiking and cycling trails that lead through a varied landscape with dense forests and open spaces. A popular route runs from Dortmunder Sommerberg via Niederhofer Holz and Wannebachtal to Holzen, with the tower often serving as a reference point.
