The monument was erected in 1960 to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of Poland's existence. It is made of artificial stone. It is about 4 m high and weighs almost 15 tons. It was designed by Sławomir Lewiński on the initiative of the Department of Culture of the Provincial National Council. Previously, there was a monument to Frederick William III, created by Ludwik Manzel (creator of Sedina and Hercules fighting the centaur). The monument was made of bronze and during the arming of Germany, it was melted down for the needs of the army.
