The Böllertsee quarry lake is located in the south of Duisburg and is part of the Sechs-Seen-Platte local recreation area. The Sechs-Seen-Platte consists of the lakes Wambachsee, Masurensee, Böllertsee, Wolfssee, Wildförstersee and Haubachsee. These lakes, some of which are interconnected, have a total water area of approximately 158 hectares.
The natural quarry lake area is surrounded by extensive forests with numerous hiking trails. All lakes can be circumnavigated on well-developed paths close to the shore. The lake, located in the southern area of the Seen-Platte, is home to protection and development measures for biotopes.
