Please check local regulations for: Erkend natuurreservaat Munsterbos
A pearl in the Munsterbos is undoubtedly the ancient pond area in the Bezoensbeek valley. Open water alternates with reed beds, bog myrtle thickets and willow groves. The area has a great attraction for birds. Typical reed birds such as the reed warbler, bluethroat and the shy water rail breed there.

The Bezoensbeek [PAD]
The Bezoensbeek is a stream that rises on the Kempens Plateau at the height of Stalken.
The stream flows in a south-westerly direction, where it is surrounded by a number of fish ponds.
The stream is diverted under the Albert Canal and flows into the Zutendaalbeek in the Munsterbos, which then flows into the Munsterbeek.
In the swamp area of the Bezoensbeek, a redoubt, the Stalkerschans, was built at the end of the 16th century, to bring the population of the nearby hamlets to safety in the event of roaming military troops.
