This belfry, which has earned its place on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is the highest in Belgium at an impressive 91 meters. Located in the old city center of Ghent, it offers you a view of the two neighboring churches as well as the rest of the medieval city from above.
You can climb (or take the elevator) all the way to the top, pausing to look at the various bells and chimes; however, the sloping spiral stone staircase is an adventure in itself.

The belfry of Ghent is the middle of the three towers. On top of it looms the mighty dragon of Ghent. In the summer of 2018 during the summer festivities of Ghent it blew a fire beam of 4,5m long. A tradition that had been lost for nearly 200 years. Hopefully it will spit it's mighty fire again next year. You can climb the belfry itself for a great view over the entire city but it's not for free. Also inside is the famous roland bell and the four stone guards.
