Hiking

The tower stands on the spot where the first town hall was built in the 16th century. In the art object Kaleidozyklus at the top of the tower, highlights of the development are depicted: coats of arms, the great city fire, guilds, connection to the supra-regional railway network.
The tower has been controversial in Bischofswerda since it was erected in the summer of 2007. Many reject it, calling it a gallows.

In 2007, the Altmarkt was completely redesigned, with a media tower that displays constantly changing messages. A prism made of metal was installed in this tower, which is controlled by a light barrier. When triggered by visitors, the prism moves within the media tower and changes its shape.
