The St. Joseph's Church on Kahlenberg has an eventful history: After the foundation stone was laid in 1629 by Camaldolese priests, the church was only completed 61 years later, but fell into disrepair again until the church was finally ceremoniously inaugurated for the third time on September 12, 1852. The date, which was not chosen by chance, already points to the importance of the historic relief battle for the history of St. Joseph's Church. From 1895 onwards, the “Kahlenberg Church Association” wanted to “appropriately” commemorate the events of 1683 with a “relief monument”. However, the project failed. Today the church has been a popular excursion destination since it was taken over by Polish priests - especially for tourists from Jan III's homeland. Sobieskis.
