The small chapel in the village of Raun is one of the oldest and most famous religious buildings in the Vogtland. It certainly dates back to the pre-Reformation period, and the chapel's existence has been documented since the beginning of the 16th century.
The chapel has been rebuilt several times over the centuries. The interior is impressive due to its painting in popular, rural baroque style. The motifs convey deep faith and warmth. The altar has been in the chapel since 1717 and was carved from green by Michael Zeitler.
