The Ruiterberg is a mountain located in the Kaapse Bossen. The mountain is 57.9 meters high. Ruiterberg country estate is located on the mountain, construction of which began in 1916. The mansion was destroyed during WWII, but rebuilt in 1950. In 1999 the gardens were also restored.

In 1916, work began on the construction of the last country estate in Doorn. The founder and client was the businessman Jan Wilmink, director of the Koninklijke Hollandse Lloyd. He commissioned the Utrecht architect J.C. Wentink and the landscape architect P.H. Wattez (1871 - 1953) from Apeldoorn.

In 1917, work began on the country house, the entrance gate, a farm, a hunting lodge with a small orangery and an ice cellar. The high location and differences in height of the site and the beautiful views over the ridge and the lower river area inspired landscape architect Wattez to design a terraced garden in the shape of a diamond. The garden spans several levels with the house at its center.

Since 1923 it was owned by dr. Willem Daniel Cramer jr.

During the Second World War, the country house was heavily damaged by a bomb. The house had two storeys and was covered with a flattened tent roof. The north facade was dominated by two towers, the highest tower of which had a belvedere that offered a view far into the surrounding area. The destroyed house was rebuilt in 1950 in Delft School style. This new design was supplied by the Sutterland architectural firm and built by Van Vliet & Van Dulst from Rotterdam. The client was W.D. Cramer.

In 1956 the estate was purchased by the Association for the Preservation of Natural Monuments. They only rented out the house with the obligation to maintain the garden. Little came of this and in 1997 the house could be sold and the garden was leased.

The garden was restored in 1999.
