The current building dates back to the Gothic period. Many centuries have built on the parish church.

At the end of the 12th century, a new church was built here in the late Romanesque style, replacing a building first mentioned in documents in 1106. In 1392, Gothic-influenced reconstruction and extension work began. The west tower was damaged by fire in 1567 and rebuilt in 1637, giving St. Peter its current appearance. Repair work took place in the 19th and 20th centuries.More information: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Peter_(Rheinberg)#Geschichte
