A must if you are in Funchal... However, the prices are sometimes out of this world. So it's better to go to a fruit stand a few hundred meters away. A little tip: there is a café on the roof... You can sit there very nicely (even in the shade) and enjoy a cappuccino or poncha.

When you are in Funchal, you also have to go to the Mercato, the market hall. This is very touristy but still worth seeing. It's best to go in the morning, so you can still see enough in the adjacent fish hall. Later you often only find empty tables.
