Erected in 1835 in memory of Alexander Murray, a local shepherd who became a Professor at Edinburgh University, the monument offers panoramic vistas of the valley and Cairnsmore of Fleet. Nearby, you can also see the remains of Dunkitterick Cottage, Murray's birthplace.
