The 'Garuda Wisnu Kencana' (GWK) statue is located in the cultural park of the same name in Bali. The 121 m high statue was designed by Nyoman Nuarta and inaugurated in September 2018. In 1989 the artist began planning; The groundbreaking for the statue's construction took place in 1997. In the late 1990s, the project was halted due to the Asian financial crisis. Construction resumed in 2013.
