    Tips

A majestic tree has stood at Lake Hengstey for 110 years and has never bothered anyone - neither cyclists nor pedestrians. Now this tree is to be felled as part of the new planning of a cycle path. This is incomprehensible to us and we are firmly against it.

This tree is not only part of our history and identity in 58099 Hagen-Boele/Hengsteysee, but also an important contribution to climate protection. Trees absorb CO2, the main greenhouse gas emitted by humans. A single large tree can absorb up to 22 kg of CO2 in a year (source: Federal Ministry for the Environment). In times of climate change, we should protect every tree and not cut it down.

We therefore call on those responsible to reconsider their plans and leave the old tree standing. It must be possible to plan and implement a cycle path so that it fits next to the existing footpath without having to cut down this valuable old tree. (Source: change.org).

A natural, 110-year-old obstacle that literally stands in the way of renewing the path. Let's wait and see how long it will stay there. I've always really liked him.
