Neibsheim was first mentioned in the Lorsch Codex in 770 and its origins go back to a Frankish foundation around the year 500. The patronage of Saint Maurice was first mentioned in 1340. Since 1370, Neibsheim has belonged to the Bishop of Speyer as a fief, which is why it remained Catholic during the Reformation. In 1803, Neibsheim became part of Baden.

The current church was built in 1790/91 and last renovated in 1981. In 2006, the community's generous donations made it possible to install a new organ. The church houses numerous baroque treasures - the figure of Saint Catherine is particularly worth mentioning here. The new rectory was built in 1961. Source: kath-bretten.de/gemeinden/neibsheim

Traces of the first settlements in the current Neibsheim district probably date back to the first century AD.
The current town itself was first mentioned in documents in 770 under its current name "Neibsheim". From 1365 onwards the village belonged to the Speyer cathedral chapter.
In the following centuries the residents had to endure several disputes. The consequences of the Thirty Years' War made things difficult for the village. In 1674 Neibsheim was plundered again. It was then under French occupation for several years.
In 1802 Neibsheim left the property of the Speyer diocese. From 1810 the 2nd Bruchsal district office, later the district office, ran the administration. In 1936 Neibsheim was assigned to the Bruchsal district. On March 1st, 1972 the town was incorporated into Bretten and is now one of ten districts (including the core town).
