The memorial consists of a square concrete base with a white painted plinth of three steps, above which a small natural stone obelisk is constructed from five blocks, supported by four consoles. The obelisk's saving fields each contain two bas-reliefs: above, alternately, the heraldic coats of arms of the Netherlands and Willemstad, below, crossed objects to illustrate the lines of text in the plinth filled in with black. The monument lies with a straight side parallel to the road. The texts with corresponding objects and heraldry are as follows:
road side: MOBILISATION 1914-1918 ARMY AND PEOPLE ONE! - crossed cannon barrels and crown - Willemstad coat of arms; Land gate side: O. NEDERLAND! LET OP U SAECK DE TIJT EN STONT IS DAER! - crossed swords and olive branch - coat of arms of the Netherlands; canal side: UNVEILED WHEN THE LAND GATE IS DEMOLISHED. AUGUST 1918. - helmet, shovel and pickaxe - coat of arms Willemstad; land side: THE FATHERLAND FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH - guns and banners - coat of arms of the Netherlands.

This Monument commemorates the mobilization of the garrison of the Fortress Willemstad, from 1914 to 1918.
The following texts are placed around the monument: Mobilization 1914-1918 Army and people one! - Oh, Netherlands! Pay attention to the tide and tide there! - Faithful to the Fatherland unto death! - Unveiled when the Land Gate was demolished in August 1918.

Where outside the built-up area of Willemstad on the southeastern exit road, the Landpoortstraat turns into the Steenweg, lies in the ravelin from around 1749 a MONUMENT from 1918. It commemorates, among other things, the demolition in that year of the Landpoort, located in the fortress front between the bastions of Friesland and Overijssel. In the ravelin there are also two cannon barrels from 1811.
