The water flows out of the Schliersee in the area of the town of the same name, immediately north of the Freudenberg peninsula, and flows north via Hausham, Agatharied and Miesbach to the Mangfall, into which it flows at river kilometer 45.72. The Schlierach covers a distance of 13.1 km. It has a catchment area of 73.4 km². The average annual rainfall for the catchment area is around 1300 l per m².
