Südpark Düsseldorf

Düsseldorf's Südpark is a spacious and diverse green space located in the south of the city, covering approximately 70 hectares. It ideally combines relaxation, leisure, and nature experiences and is very popular with both locals and visitors.The park was created at the end of the 19th century as a landscape park in the style of an English garden and was later expanded and modernized several times, most recently in connection with the 1987 Federal Garden Show. The result is a diverse park landscape with spacious meadows, mature trees, flowering perennial beds, and diverse woody groups.Of particular note are the numerous lakes and ponds, which give Südpark a tranquil, natural ambiance. Well-maintained walking paths lead around these bodies of water, inviting you to stroll, jog, or cycle. The park offers a good infrastructure with playgrounds, sports facilities, and seating areas that appeal to families, athletes, and those seeking relaxation.A special highlight is the Volksgarten, the oldest part of Südpark, with its romantic ponds, tree-lined avenues, and the popular Clock Park. Südpark also features several event venues and open-air stages that regularly host cultural events.Südpark is barrier-free and well-connected to public transport, making it easily accessible even for visitors without a car. With its combination of natural character and diverse recreational activities, Südpark is an ideal place for relaxing walks, sporting activities, and socializing in the open air.
