Marian worship has been deeply rooted in popular belief among the Marpingers since the 15th century. It reached its first climax in July 1876 when the Mother of God appeared to three eight-year-old girls in the Härtelwald.
In 1999, alleged apparitions caused much public interest. Thousands of pilgrims still visit the Marian veneration site every year.
In the Härtelwald, the Marienkapelle, the Stations of the Cross with a crucifixion group and the Marienquelle invite you to pray and worship the Mother of God. Devotional items are available for purchase in a visitor center.

A place of peace and contemplation. Well maintained. Incl. Marie source.

Very nicely laid out place. Ways of the Cross and masses take place here regularly. The Way of the Cross goes very steeply uphill through the forest. This is certainly rather difficult to master with a walking disability. Parking spaces for cars and buses are available. Below is the Lady Chapel. It is handicap accessible from the parking lot. Rosaries are regularly held here in an outbuilding.
