The Breuninger Stein was erected in memory of the commercial councilor Eduard Breuninger from Stuttgart. He crashed as a pilot in a dogfight during World War I and stayed in Flanders.
The memorial stone used to stand above the former Breuninger holiday home. Due to changes in ownership in May 2012, he was moved to this location.

With this memorial stone, the family of Eduard Breuninger, a councilor of commerce from Stuttgart, commemorates their son and brother Erwin. During the First World War, he crashed as a pilot in aerial combat and remained in Flanders. The stone originally stood above the former Breuninger holiday home. Changes in ownership prompted a relocation in May 2012.
