The park is situated at the northern end of the Riverside Park, right next to the locks that allow ships the passing of the Gezhou Dam. The park offers nice areas shaded by trees, sports facilities (basketball, badminton, table tennis, etc) and appears to attract many locals.
Unfortunately the park is located downstream of the dam, so there is very little you can actually observe of the ships passing through the locks.

The Gezhou Dam itself spans across the Yangtze River (Changjiang) and at the time of its completion in 1980 was the largest hydro-electric dam in China. The dam is over 2500m across, 70m high and 30m thick. The Gezhou dam, while still large, is now dwarfed by the Three Gorges Dam that is located further upstream, about an hours drive from Yichang.
