Tall deciduous and coniferous trees and colourful vegetation surround the lower sections of the quiet and scenic road between Ohiya railway station and Horton Plains.

These scenes are unusual for Sri Lanka and are delightful to walk through. They resemble sights found either in California or in parts of the UK but occur here in tropical latitudes at an altitude of about 6,000 ft.
