The Siebenmühlental connects the Schönbuch with the Glemswald.

The Reichenbach has cut deep into the Lias cover of the Lower Jura and the upper and middle Keuper layers down to the Stubensandstein.

Meadows and pastures predominate in the valley plain - the Keuper areas on the slopes and on the plateaus are mostly forested.

The contrasts could hardly be greater: just a few kilometers away, airplane engines roar and lines of cars pollute the air

      - and here the Reichenbach babbles peacefully through colorful meadows and the forest exudes a spicy scent.

The Siebenmühlental is a gem in the Stuttgart metropolitan area.

Many people know this and like to visit the valley - by bike, rollerblades or on foot. They appreciate and enjoy nature, the wonderful landscape, the good air. Here they breathe deeply, relax and recover.

The Siebenmühlental owes its attractiveness to its extremely high biological diversity.

Innumerable plants and animals live in the meadows and pastures, shrub areas and reed beds, floodplain and hillside forests and in the Reichenbach:

      200 species of flowering plants,

      80 species of birds and

      over 50 species of butterflies

as well as 14 species of reptiles and amphibians

      are known.

Many of them are rare and endangered:

      for example, the Blue butterfly,

      the kingfisher and

      the Bechstein's bat.

They make the valley so lively,

      so varied, so colorful.

In order to preserve this unique natural, cultural and recreational area in the long term, the regional councils of Stuttgart and Tübingen designated a nature reserve with protected forest in 2010. The European Union also included the valley in its cross-border Natura 2000 protected area system.

The diversity and idyll in the Siebenmühlental is preserved by carefully managing the meadows on the dry slopes and in the damp valley and not converting them into weekend plots

      and allotments.

Natural forestry helps to develop species-rich mixed deciduous forests from coniferous forests. It is also beneficial to remove bank and stream bed reinforcements and not to develop the valley any further.

The "Siebenmühlental" is beautiful at every point between Eselsmühle and Burkhardtsmühle, so this "highlight" is very arbitrary.
