Mittuniversitetet is a Swedish state university and has campuses in two locations: Sundsvall and Östersund. In 2001, the Persson government granted Mitthögskolan university status in the field of natural sciences, including IT, giving the institution the right to organize postgraduate education and award doctoral degrees. In the 2008/09 academic year, the university was the university with the largest volume of distance learning and online teaching. In 2022, just over 59 percent of the 8,062 year-round students studied remotely. In the university café "Cultum" you can enjoy a coffee and delicious pastries or a snack in a modern teaching building.
