Sawyer Mesa Trail is also a ski trail in the winter with orange blazes, hence its second name, Orange Ski Trail. This trail takes hikers through mixed conifer forests, burn areas, and young aspen groves. It shows hikers the contrast between what was burned during the 2011 fire, what survived, and the areas making a comeback.
