Mohács Riverside Promenade

Mohacs is a Hungarian city on the right bank of the Danube, near the border with Croatia and Serbia. Nationally known is the city for the local carnival.
During the translation, a cyclist of my age joins in, who started from Tallin and wants to go to the Mediterranean.
Many inhabitants in this area still speak a little German.
The cities here in the border triangle of Hungary, Croatia and Serbia all have a German name on the entrance sign.
Many artisans from Germany settled here after the Ottomans were expelled in the 17th century.
In 1524, at the Battle of Mohacs, there was a devastating defeat for the Hungarians against the advancing Ottomans.
In 1687, the Ottoman occupiers were defeated under the leadership of the Habsburg Elector Maximilian II and the area re-colonized u. a. with the so-called Donauschwaben

A beautiful city worth visiting!

Great accommodation (apartment for up to 4-5 people), run by a very nice English and a little German speaking landlady. Was a lucky grab for 2 nights after a slight sprain in the calf. The whole for 40 euros (20 per night)
I had the apartment alone for me and gave blissful sleep.A nice and clean place ... I see here's Danube Swabian, they return the road on Saturday 😉Great stay and the calf is ok again.
