The town of Jingtong marks the end of the Pingxi by-pass, and the train station is one of the best-preserved ancient Japanese colonial train stations in Taiwan.
The Pingxi branch line served to remove coal mined in Jingtong. It is also remembered in the "Jingtong Coal Memorial Park".
