Very steep ascent to Freiolsheim with relatively little traffic. The asphalt is in 1a quality, especially on the descent is very pleasant (attention: serpentines at the end). In midsummer the trees provide shade.

The climb is really very steep with about 300 meters of altitude, it starts in the village with a ramp at 15%, then up to 17%, then you can "rest" a bit at 11% before then climbing again to 13%. This very steep first section is quite long, about 1.5 km, in which the gradient is never less than 10%. It really pushes me to the limit, especially on a hot summer day. The remaining 2 km are then with 6 - 8% incline with a short ramp of 13%, which then feels really relaxing. As far as I know, this is the steepest and most demanding climb in the northern Black Forest.

Alternatives: From Gaggenau via Michelbach to Freiolsheim, also quite steep, or from Malsch to Freiolsheim, it's not that steep.

      Have fun trying!

Quite a torment as a climb (16% in some cases), but if you like it ...

As a descent, however, I also find it really steep and uncomfortable. I would rather recommend the neighboring L608 between Freiolsheim and Malsch.
