This bronze statue by artist Luc De Blick is intended to emphasize the role of Houwaart as a place where wine growing in Hageland first restarted, even though neighboring Wezemaal is perhaps better known as a wine village. Some of the driving forces in this were Senator Jos Daems and Mayor Marcel Saenen, with the Houwaarde Berg as the place where the flanks managed to attract professional wine growers.
