Hiking

Originally, only completely pure glass sand was mined, which did not require any further processing. Today, mining takes place both above ground and underwater. The Hohenbocka quartz sand works, which belongs to the Quarzwerke Group, is currently mining directly north of Bucksche Schweiz using an electrically operated suction dredger to a depth of 25 m in the so-called extraction lake. According to the 2017 framework operating plan, Bucksche Schweiz will remain untouched by mining until the end of 2070.
