The Hohenbocka quartz sand works, which belongs to the Quarzwerke Group, is currently mining directly north of Bucksche Schweiz using an electrically operated suction dredger to a depth of 25 m in the so-called extraction lake. According to the 2017 framework operating plan, Bucksche Schweiz will remain untouched by mining until the end of 2070.
