Above Jesserndorf there is a beautiful view of the Staffelberg. In addition to the panoramic boards on the observation tower, you will find brief information about the geology of the Haßberge. A visit there should be a must; if the weather is right, the view is worth the short walk to the edge of the forest.

There is also a well-preserved village center with very beautiful properties.

The place name probably goes back to the personal name of the town founder “Jazo” or “Jeso”. In 1154, Jesserndorf was mentioned indirectly for the first time with the witness “Heinrich von gezendorff” in a document from Bamberg Bishop Eberhard II of Otelingen. In 1232, a mention followed in the division document from Würzburg Prince-Bishop Hermann, in which Ebern was separated from the parish of Pfarrweisach and “Gesendorff came to Ebern. In 1317/22 Wolfram von Rotenhan received four estates in “Jesendorf”. In 1446 Jesserndorf was made an independent parish.

Jesserndorf is one of the few villages in Lower Franconia in which churches of two Christian denominations have stood since the middle of the 19th century.

A total of twelve architectural monuments are listed in the Bavarian Monuments List.

Jesserndorf is often referred to as one of the most beautiful districts of Ebern. It is absolutely convincing thanks to its magnificent townscape, which is characterized by two churches, a spacious village square and rustic half-timbered and sandstone houses. Due to the presence of a Catholic and a Protestant church, one can still conclude today that Jesserndorf was previously divided among many lords. Two churches, two parsonages, two schools and two inns of different denominations were all sorts of things for a small town that today has around 240 residents. A kindergarten, village shop, restaurants and an active club life have remained in the village to this day and represent a local basic service that is unique in the districts of Ebern. At the “Steinert” there are sandstone boulders that are said to have healing properties.
