The church was built in 1864, and rebuilt in 1932 in a Chinese and Western style. During the Cultural Revolution the church was destroyed and occupied by the Jiading County Government and turned into a canteen. It was reopened after restoration in 1984. It was expanded and a bell tower added in 1991.
