Robert Falcon Scott was a British explorer who led two expeditions to Antarctica, including the famous 'Race to the South Pole' against Norwegian Roald Amundsen. Scott arrived at the pole in January 1912, weeks behind Amundsen who reached it on 14 December 1911.

Scott and members of his party perished on the return journey.
