The principle of a water line is: flood the surrounding area by crossing dams and dikes (inundation). Clear the immediate area (no construction was allowed in the forbidden circles around the forts, or only in wood). And deploy military equipment on the forts and in other higher areas (accesses). Thanks to the Circle Act, the area between the walking path and the Uithof has always remained open. And Theehuis Rhijnauwen was built entirely of wood because of its location in a Forbidden Circle. This allowed it to be broken down quickly if necessary.
