The ENCI area is a beautiful place to walk and enjoy all the beautiful plants and animals the area has to offer. ENCI Maastricht was founded in 1926 and is located along the Maas River, at the foot of the Sint Pietersberg. Until 2018, the entire cement production process took place in the ENCI quarry in the St. Pietersberg in Maastricht: the extraction of limestone in open-pit mining, the production of the semi-finished clinker, and finally the grinding of this clinker into cement. The ENCI quarry was a large limestone quarry of 150 hectares, which was closed for marl extraction on July 1, 2018.
