The ruins of New House Barn might be not as unusual, but it is the fact that if you stand in front of it, you will see (possibly through it) the summit of Pen-y-ghent on the horizon, making the spot an unexpected sight.
Next to this path, you also have a number of hills that could be climbed if your heart so desired, e.g., Swinesett Hill, Scald Bank and News Head Hill: all grassy and posing not too great a challenge.
