The neighborhood and the church of Sant Nicolau are located about 2.5 kilometers south of Ordis, to the right of the Àlguema stream, next to Can Vilar and Mas Pagès. The church is accessed from Ordis by taking the GIV-5128 local road at the exit of the town to the southwest. At km 4.4 we find a path that leads us to Sant Nicolau.
The oldest mention of the church, suffragan of the parish of Sant Julià, dates back to 1310, when it is cited as Sant Nicolau de Àlguema, when it received an endowment from the clerics of Ordis and Pere Albert, heir of the neighboring Mas Albert de Ordis. According to the historian Montsalvatge, who, however, does not specify the source of his information, this must have been the parish of Ordis until the 15th century. If it were true, we should think that the town of Ordis did not exist as a population center and instead the settlement would have been scattered. One could think of a change of dedication, since the church of Sant Julià is already mentioned in a document from 1092 and is cited as a parish in the 14th century. If Sant Nicolau really was the ancient parish dedicated to Sant Julià, it seems significant that the current church of Sant Julià presents remains of a temple from the 12th-13th centuries and of dimensions significantly larger than those of Sant Nicolau. In any case, we must wait for the appearance of a document to clarify the issue.
For lighting, the church has three double-flow windows located in the center of the apse, on the south wall (to the right of the door, near the presbytery) and in the upper central part of the western front. They are all voussoired and crowned with a monolithic semicircular arch.
