Hiking

The "Fortini della Fame" – Hunger Fortresses or Hunger Towers – are historical monuments closely linked to the turbulent history of the 19th century. These cylindrical structures are the remaining remnants of a fortification system consisting of 36 towers. Five towers still stand today above Camorino.
This is tower no. 5: "Al Pian di Bur." The tower has been renovated and serves as an energy museum.

Hiking

The fifth tower "Al Pian di Bur" was sold by the Confederation to the electrical company of Bellinzona in 1943. It was never tampered with and its original structure, now shabby, will be the object of a restoration intervention wanted by the owner company; the recovery project includes works that should allow the construction of the building as an important documentary station in the "Water way", which right here intersects the path of the Fortini.
