This is a superb section of the 109-mile (175 km) Cleveland Way; a revered hiking trail that showcases the best of the North York Moors. On this section, you leave the picturesque market town of Helmsley and pass the magnificent ruins of Helmsley Castle and Rievaulx Abbey before exploring the glorious Nettle Dale.

Hiking

Very peaceful walk, especially early on a May-morning at around 5.30am before anyone else is out and about. Very easy trail to follow and worth it for the views as you head through Rye Dale and Nettle Dale.
