This beautiful church in Hawes is a Grade-II listed building. It is also known as Church of Saint Margaret of Antioch. It was built in 1851, designed by architect A B Higham. The church replaced the nearby village chapel of ease, built in 1480. Chapel or church of ease meant a church other than the main church, attended by those who couldn't attend the main one, usually due to distance being too far.
