If you enter the historic town center of Schlitz via the Obertor, a stately half-timbered house is particularly noticeable. It is the over 400 year old Benderhaus, which owes its name to the craftsmanship of barrel binding. In earlier centuries there was a cooperage in the cellar. The remaining floors once served as granaries or fruiting areas. It was only after the Second World War that it was converted into a residential building.
