The ‘Jordan River’, also called Nahr Al-Sharieat, is a 251 km long river in the Middle East. Jordan and the Golan Heights border the river to the east, while the West Bank and Israel lie to the west. The upper reaches of the river flow into the Sea of Galilee and the lower reaches south of the lake, the so-called “Jordan Valley,” flows into the Dead Sea at about 422 meters below sea level.
