The Triumphal Arch of Rua Augusta, located in Praça do Comércio in Lisbon, was planned in 1759 as part of the Pombaline reconstruction after the 1755 earthquake. Completed in 1873, it displays sculptures of Portuguese historical figures and allegories of the Tagus and Douro rivers. A viewpoint at the top has offered views of the city since 2013.
