The Trail of the Six Quarries (Trilho das Seis Pedreiras) is one of the most unique routes in the Monsanto Forest Park in Lisbon. This circular hike takes you through ancient limestone quarries that were exploited for centuries and are now part of the park's natural and cultural landscape.

Hiking

In the 19th century, the Monsanto mountain range, in Lisbon, had several quarries from which limestone was extracted for urban construction. Today, these six quarries, covered by vegetation, are visited via a route through the forest park. The route, starting at Espaço Monsanto, passes through remains of the quarries, including ruined stone ovens, and offers views of the Sintra mountains.
