This small Buddhist temple is one of the oldest wooden buildings in Nagano Prefecture, and is estimated to be more than 600 years old. It is located at the foot of the beautiful mountain hamlet of Wazō, whose recorded history dates back to the Nanboku-chō Period (1336-1392), when members of the imperial family sought refuge in the deep mountains of Ōshika.
