Like many of the old colonist villages in the Oderbruch, Neulewin is crossed by a drainage ditch. However, a natural body of water flows here, the Lewin Graben, which spans several bridges and footbridges in the local area.

The Lewin Graben begins at the Groß Neuendorf parallel ditch, which was used to drain dikes on the Oder, and flows south of Neulewin into the Volzine, which in turn leads over the main ditch to the Alte Oder. Outside the local area, the Lewin Graben is also known as the city ditch. In the past, this ditch was not only used for drainage, but also served as a bathing area or cattle trough. The village meadow was used as pasture until around 1830, before the gardens with their walkways were later created. Unfortunately, today the Lewin Graben has often dried up.
