Another landmark of Zutphen is the Berkelpoort. Built around 1325, this water gate spans the river of the same name, which originates in the Münsterland region and flows into the IJssel River here in Zutphen. It separates the old and new towns. Three picturesque passageways open through the massive brick wall, topped with crenellated turrets, offering a clear view of the water's course.
